We tested and played with lots of colors, learned how to mix them up to get the colors we want (unfortunately, most of the time we would get the colors we did not want!!). The main point the teacher told us was that we should not to use the color which was directly came out of the color tubes, because it gave a “raw” and “hard” feelings. We would mix green with brown, or blue, or purple, in order to get the green for leaves. We should mix blue with orange, or pink, or red, in order to get the blue for the morning sky, for example.

During 4 days of testing and playing (4 Saturdays at a classroom in “Pohchang” College in Bangkok), we had practiced on different techniques to create different moods of sky, mountains, trees, pines, palms, huts, creeks, beaches, boats, etc. Those techniques includes how to select different size and shape of brushes, how to mix colors together to make it soft and natural (in our imagination). We thought that we knew a lot. And then it was the time to go for out-door (or real) environment to look at the nature’s color (which was quite different from what we had thought!!) and tried to create a painting that reflect our feeling, from what we saw in front of us.
